At approximately 7:45 p.m. on Jan. 3, 2017, a male subject entered 7-Eleven, located at 9112 Mathis Ave, and demanded money from the clerk while pointing a knife at her. The clerk complied and the suspect exited the store with an undisclosed amount of cash. The ). The suspect is described as a white male, mid- 40s-50s, and approximately 6’ tall with a thin build.

Officers are investigating a shooting which occurred in the 8800 block of Rixlew Lane. One victim is suffering from a gunshot wound and is being flown to a medical facility. Baby Kenzi was originally due on Jan 17 and his date was pushed up a couple times. While home on New Years Eve, mom randomly begin to get contractions every 3 mins. Mom was unsure then contacted her mother, her mother told her she needs to go to the hospital. Mom still did not think she was ready, but went anyway. When she got there turns out baby Kenzi was ready, and birthed at 4:42 am on New Years Day. Baby was the first baby born in the 2017 at Sentara Hospital in Woodbridge, Va. Weighing in at 9.47 ounces with a length of 20 inches.

Novant Health UVA Health System Haymarket Medical Center’s first baby of 2017 is a boy, Colt Alan Hopkins born at 8:23 p.m. on January 3 delivered by Eugene Louie-Ng, MD and weighing in at 8 lbs. 6 ounces and 20 inches long. Parents are Heather and Alan Hopkins of Culpeper, Va. Older brother Tyler age two will welcome him at home.

“A few weeks ago, I was alerted to a problem with “lack of lighting” at the Chinn Center bus stop shelter……….both in early mornings and after dark in the evenings. I did meet with Perrin from PRTC after dark one evening to confirm that it is a problem. I do know from a previous experience that there are some folks who “hang out” in this area…so, good lighting is needed.
