PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. — Hunters this fall will be allowed to bring their bows and arrows to three Prince William County properties to hunt for whitetail deer.
Rippon Lodge in Woodbridge, Locust Shade Park in Triangle, and Doves Landing, a county-owned preserve along Cedar Run outside Manassas will be the sites of the pilot archery deer management program. The Prince William County Board of Supervisors approved the trial hunt at Tuesday’s meeting.

On Tuesday, April 11th at 4:27 p.m., fire and rescue units were dispatched to an apartment fire located in the 3600 block of Meandering Way in Woodbridge.
Community members, Prince William County employees and county officials come together every spring to “plant” a pinwheel garden to remind people of the importance of the prevention of child abuse and neglect. April is Child Abuse Prevention Month, and the blue pinwheel is used as a symbol to raise awareness about child abuse.
This year, about two dozen people gathered to place blue pinwheels in the ground in front of the McCoart Government Center to commemorate the month and bring attention to this important topic. (more…)

On April 10, 2017, at 10:53 p.m., Sergeant D. Pinzon was traveling southbound on Jefferson Davis Highway near George Mason Road when he observed an oncoming vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. The patrol car’s radar detection equipment registered the approaching vehicle exceeding 90 MPH.
HAYMARKET, Va. — Dominion Virginia Power is clear to build a new 234-kilovolt, nearly 10-mile electric transmission line in Haymarket.
Virginia State Corporation Commission officials said two of the alternative routes, the Railroad Route or the Carver Road Route “meet the statutory criteria” for the project.

On April 9, 2017, Deputy C.N. Mireles and Deputy K.J. Simpson responded to the Clarion Inn, located at 564 Warrenton Road, to serve a warrant. Upon arrival, the deputies entered the side door of the hotel lobby and observed a male subject matching the suspect’s description in the lobby. The subject saw law enforcement, immediately rose to his feet and fled out the front door.

At 1:40 p.m. Saturday (April 8, 2017), Virginia State Police were notified of a plane crash that occurred at the Culpeper Regional Airport in Culpeper County. The plane was a 1949 North American T6G, fixed-wing, single-engine, two seater aircraft. The aircraft was attempting to land at the airport when it ran off the side of the runway and overturned.
