WOODBRIDGE – (Press Release) On December 4 at 12:11PM, investigators with the Crash Investigation Unit responded to the intersection of Opitz Blvd and River Walk Way in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a two-vehicle crash. The investigation revealed that the driver of a 2008 Toyota Camry was attempting to make a left turn onto southbound River Walk Way from westbound Opitz Blvd when the vehicle collided with a 2016 Hyundai Genesis which was traveling eastbound on Opitz Blvd. The driver of the Genesis was transported to an area hospital where he later died as a result of his injuries on December 6. The driver of the Camry sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital. Speed, alcohol, and drug use are not factors in the collision. Charges are pending. The investigation continues.

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY – (Press Release) On December 4 at 5:27PM, officers responded to the Walmart located at 14000 Worth Ave in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate an assault. The victim, a 41-year-old woman, reported to police that she was shopping in the store when she was approached from behind by an unknown male as she was reaching down to look at some products on a self. During the encounter, the suspect inappropriately touched the victim and whispered something indecipherable into her ear. The suspect eventually left the business and no further contact was made. No injuries were reported. The investigation continues.

STAFFORD – (Press Release) 2000 block of Jefferson Davis Highway, 12/3, 8:40 p.m. Vehicle parked outside of local business stolen. The investigation is ongoing.
LARCENIES
PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY – (Press Release) The Board of County Supervisors authorized the County Attorney to engage with outside legal counsel to investigate potential legal actions against entities engaged in the manufacturing, marketing, sales and distribution of opioids.
The Board’s action comes on the heels of a lawsuit filed by the Virginia Attorney General against Purdue Pharmaceuticals and its subsidiaries earlier this year. Any and all damages recovered in that lawsuit would be awarded to the Commonwealth, not to the individual localities affected by opioid addiction.
PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY – (Press Release) The Service Authority will be conducting a non-emergency repair of a water main just north of the Rte. 234 exit ramp off Interstate 66 in Manassas this weekend.
The repair, which will improve service reliability in the drinking water distribution system, will necessitate the closure of the ramp onto northbound Rte. 234 from early Saturday evening until early Sunday afternoon.
MANASSAS – (Press Release) On December 4 at 2:30PM, officers responded to the Prince William County Tax Administration Office located at 1 County Complex Court in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate a bomb threat made by phone.
Staff reported to police that a woman, later identified as the accused, called the office upset over a tax issue involving her vehicle. During the conversation, the accused threatened to bomb the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) office. No specific DMV office was identified during the call. Officers attempted to locate the accused at her home in Manassas.
