Heather Mitchell, currently a senior aide to Prince William County Board of Supervisors is running for the Virginia House of Delegates and is focused on transportation, education, and veterans.
Known in Republican circles for her support for gubernatorial and U.S. Senate candidate Corey Stewart, this is Mitchell’s first time seeking statewide office.
Joseph George is running to represent the Neabsco District (Dale City) on the Prince William County School Board. He works for the Department of Defense and has been heavily involved with Prince William County Schools over the years in leadership positions for PTO/PTA and the Principal Advisory Council.
George last ran for the seat in 2015 and lost to current Neabsco District School Board representative Diane Raulston.
Hassan Ahmad, a long-time Sterling resident in Loudoun County with 15 years of legal experience, is running for the Virginia House of Delegates District 87. His focuses are transportation, criminal justice reform, and education. A portion of the 87th District is in Prince William County.

STAFFORD — (Press release) The family of Sgt. Charles Calvin Strong will honor him and his sacrifice on May 24 at Stafford’s annual Memorial Day Ceremony.
His wife, Taylor Strong, a Stafford County native, and their daughter, Sophie, will place a wreath in memory of Sgt. Strong and those who, along with him, have died in service to the country.
PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY — A 17-year-old girl known only as “Jessica” is feared to be missing from a park near Manassas.
On May 20 at 9:20 p.m., officers were called to investigate a possible abduction that reportedly occurred in the area of Joseph D. Reading Park located at 8460 Maplewood Drive near Manassas sometime earlier that evening.
MANASSAS –– Ken Elston resigned from the Manassas City Council on Monday.
Elston will leave the city’s governing body effective at the end of July 2019.

STAFFORD COUNTY — Fire crews were called to a fire inside a three-story apartment.
At 11:39 p.m. Sunday, crews from the Stafford County Fire and Rescue Department were called to the 200 block of Chivalry Way in the Berea off Route 17.
WOODBRIDGE — Firefighters were dispatched to a house fire at 15010 Illinois Road in Woodbridge at 9:50 p.m. Sunday.
Fire crews arrived on scene and found smoke. After locating and speaking with the residents of the house, firefighters found a fire in the first-floor laundry room.
