Starting today, work will begin to shift Interstate 95 southbound traffic several feet toward the median near Exit 133 (Route 17) in Stafford County as part of the I-95 Southbound Rappahannock River Crossing project.
On Wednesday, Sept. 25 and Thursday, Sept. 26, the Route 17 southbound on-ramp to I-95 southbound will be closed overnight to allow crews to install barrier, new pavement markings and signs to guide motorists through the shift.
- It advances work to widen the southbound on-ramp to two lanes.
All three lanes of I-95 southbound will shift approximately 3 feet to the left, toward the interstate median, to provide more space along the right shoulder for crews to work behind barriers. Southbound lanes will shift starting south of the Exit 133 (Route 17) interchange to the Rappahannock River bridge.

Baldwin Elementary School will celebrate the dedication of the Academic Hall of Fame Star wall on September 26, 2019, at 6:30 p.m.
- The Academic Hall of Fame recognizes students who achieve all A’s on their report card for the year. Baldwin Elementary has recognized this level of student achievement by placing a Gold Star on the wall of the school since 1993.
When Baldwin Elementary moved to the new school facility in December of 2016 the Baldwin community wanted to preserve the Academic Hall of Fame tradition in the new school setting. After discussion and efforts to design a plaque that preserved the tradition while complimenting the aesthetic of the new building, the newest version of the Baldwin Academic Hall of Fame has been installed.
The STAR WALL committee preserved the original STARS from “Old” Baldwin and they will be available for pick-up at the event.
- Members of the Manassas City Public School Board, Manassas City Council, former students, and members of the community will be present to cut the ribbon on the new Academic Hall of Fame in a ceremony scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.

- The meeting will be held at the Manassas Park Community Center, located at 99 Adams Street in Manassas Park.
- It will include an open house as well as a brief presentation at 6:30 pm and a question and answer period.

- Administered by VDOT, the study will examine replacing stoplights with alternative intersection designs such as roundabouts, overpasses, flyovers and other concepts along the Virginia State Route 28 corridor between Blooms Quarry Lane at the City of Manassas Park and the Bull Run bridge at the Prince William/Fairfax County Line.
The study will also analyze other concepts.
- Impacts on right-of-way, utilities at a planning level to analyze traffic effects.
- Improved traffic signal timing and operations.
- Access management for properties along the corridor including new medians.
- Results from previous studies in the corridor.
- Pedestrian enhancements including crosswalks and new sidewalks.
