STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. – A major thoroughfare has been reopened in Ferry Farm after a series of rail cars derailed Tuesday.

Clean-up crews have finished removing coal that spilled onto Va. 3, near Walmart, as a result of the crash. There was only one coal car left to right at 6:30 a.m., according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.

STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. – A suspect in North Stafford shooting has been arrested.

Julio Montelus-DeMarcus Mayes, 18, faces a list of charges connected to a series of robberies that occurred in North Stafford during February and March. He is also believed to have been involved in a March 4 shooting on Stafford Mews Court, off Onville Road, said Stafford Sheriff’s spokesman Bill Kennedy.

An “unruly passenger” has made commuting difficult this morning for those in Virginia Railway Express train #308 from Fredericksburg to Washington, accoring to the commuter railroad.

The train was stopped at the Quantico station just before 8 a.m. VRE said the passenger was the reason for the delay. The train eventually moved about a half-hour later, making its way to the Rippon station in Woodbridge.


FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. — Lance Cpl. John Ramirez knows what it’s like to have a loved one taken away.

Ten years ago, guerrilla fighters in Columbia abducted his uncle, taking him away from Ramirez and his family. It was a trying situation, one that left Ramirez thinking that he would never see his uncle again, he said.
