Woodbridge, Va. –– George Doughty was a good friend, a sort of keeper of homeless community in Dale City, and was like a brother to the man who will lead his remembrance service Thursday.
Doughty was found dead of apparent medical problems in the woods off Dale Boulevard one week ago. He was homeless, and for at least the past three years had called those woods home.

Nathan Collier Pottier, 25, of Vienna, was stopped at 11 p.m. Monday in the area of Hedges Run Drive and Old Bridge Road in Lake Ridge.
Two men at 9 p.m. walked into the electronics store at 418 Garrisonville Road (Va. 610), showed a knife and taser and demanded the two male employees, ages 20 and 25, go the manager’s office.
The robbers threatened to kill both employees if they did not comply with their demands, and one the attackers used a taser to assault one of the victims while the other was kicked, said Stafford sheriff’s spokesman Bill Kennedy.
Someone who lives on Markham Way, off Spring Lake Drive and Shelton Shop Road, called the sheriff’s department and reported several people standing on the street outside his home, about 11 p.m.
The deputy arrived and saw at least 50 people hovering around a man who was on the ground being beaten. The deputy jumped into the crowd, protected the victim, and was able to detain one of the men who appeared to be involved in the beating, said Stafford sheriff’s spokesman Bill Kennedy.

Lake Ridge, Va. –– An arrest has been made in case of a series of burglaries in Lake Ridge.
