Stafford County, Va. –– Authorities say the 76-year-old man they arrested Tuesday has a habit of drunken driving.
A Stafford sheriff’s deputy was flagged down at 4:54 p.m. Tuesday by a driver who said they saw someone in a blue Ford F-150 pickup swerving into oncoming traffic while traveling in the area of U.S. in North Stafford.
The deputy later caught up with the truck, saw the driver swerving in and out of traffic and nearly colliding with oncoming cars, and then stopped the driver at the intersection of U.S. 1 and Telegraph Road in Boswell’s Corner, said Stafford sheriff’s spokesman Bill Kennedy.
“It was apparent during the deputy’s interaction with the individual the odor of alcohol was coming from the subject,” said Kennedy.
The deputy called for help and a DUI investigation was launched. Eventually, the driver was arrested.
Randall Prince, 76, of Hartwood Road in Stafford County, is charged with driving on a revoked license, possessing an open container of alcohol in his vehicle, and was held on a $3,500 bond, said Kennedy.
After checking his record, authorities say, Prince is a habitual DUI offender.
