Triangle, Va. –– The National Museum of the Marine Corps will be closed January 18 and 19 (Tuesday/Wednesday), 2011 for maintenance and upgrades. The Museum will reopen on Thursday, January 20 with regular hours.

The National Museum of the Marine Corps is located at 18900 Jefferson Davis Highway, Triangle, Va. The Museum, which opened November 10, 2006, brings to life the U.S. Marine Corps’ rich history and honors the commitment, accomplishments, and sacrifices of all Marines. It is open 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. every day except Christmas. Parking and admission are free.

While the transit system as of Monday night had no plans of canceling or delaying service on Tuesday, they do warn the platforms at stations could be icy during morning hours.

They’ve urged riders to allow plenty of time to get to the station, use handrails on ramps and while boarding the trains, and to wear sensible clothes and shoes appropriate for the wintry weather. (more…)


Prince William

Police Chief David Rohrer in the next few months will make the decision to allow a the board, the Mount Vernon Gazette reports.

The 52-year-old shooting victim, David Masters, was shot while behind the wheel of his Chevrolet Blazer in November 2009, on Fort Hunt Rood U.S. 1, the Washington Post reported.

He’s introduced a bill in the General Assembly that would not only require agencies to inquire about detainee’s immigration status, it would also allow them to hold those arrested without bond if authorities think they will not appear for a hearing.

The bill is still pending a hearing.
