STAFFORD, Va. – – Northern Virginia’s fight against the invasive Emerald Ash Borer continues.
The beetle, an intruder from Asia, is a threat to the area’s ash trees and has been the focus of a statewide advertising campaign urging campers to only use firewood collected from their campsite. Not moving firewood prevents the spread of the bug, state officials said.

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. –– Nearly 100 Lost Dawgs found their way to three animal rescue facilities on Saturday.
Selik overpowered the Hillcats over six innings, allowing just four hits and striking out four with no walks. He allowed baserunners in five of his six innings, but induced two double plays and allowed just one runner to reach second base.
The Nats (44-49, 15-9) got the only run they needed in the first inning. After Soriano doubled to open the frame, Jeff Kobernus sacrificed him to third. Destin Hood then hit a sacrifice fly to center field that put Potomac in front 1-0.
Reckless Handling of a Firearm
On July 16th at 1:58PM, police responded to the 4600 block of Whitaker Pl in Woodbridge (22193) for a call of shots fired. The investigation revealed that the accused had fired a shotgun at a neighbor’s dog as it ran onto a community parking lot. Other people were nearby but not injured. The dog was also uninjured. The accused was arrested and charged.
