Woodbridge, Va. — Two lanes on Interstate 95 in Woodbridge will close tonight to so crews can remove a highway sign.
A Virginia Department of Transportation crew will close two of three northbound lanes at mile post 158, at Prince William Parkway, to remove an overhead sign that has cracked anchor bolts.

Mount Vernon, Va. — Historic Mount Vernon, the home of George Washington, is celebrating the birthday of the nation’s first president by focusing on the foods he ate and how they were prepared, 18th century style.
The crash, reported just before 4 p.m., initially closed the northbound portion of the highway. Stafford County officials now report the highway has been reopened and the truck moved to the shoulder.
There have been no reports of injuries at this time.
North Stafford, Va. — Former Virginia Gov. Timothy Kaine will stump in the Potomac Communties on Saturday in his bid for the U.S. Senate.
After meeting with Democrats in Manassas and Fredericksburg on Saturday morning, Kaine has invited veterans to join him at a roundtable discussion at the Globe and Laurel Restaurant in North Stafford. Expected to be at issue is helping returning war veterans find jobs.
Dale City Elementary Schools’ guest reader event, dubbed “Read with a Hero Day” accomplished all it was designed to do, and more. Local heroes from the Prince William County Department of Fire and Rescue, other first responders, lawyers, a Vietnam veteran, and an Army soldier got kids excited about reading, while keeping them on the edge of their seats as they shared real-life experiences and read stories related to their careers.

Richmond, Va. – A House subcommittee has defeated a Senate-approved bill that would have permitted hunting on Sundays in Virginia.

Richmond, Va. – The Virginia House of Delegates has advanced a bill that would make a broader range of criminals eligible for the death penalty.
The commuter railroad told passengers today to expect large crowds on Fredericksburg train #303, which leaves Washington’s Union Station at 3:35 p.m., and Manassas train #327 which leaves Union Station at 3:45.
VRE today will make these trains longer to accommodate more passengers, according to a statement sent out by railroad management.
