Lake Ridge, Va. — When Lauren Maher saw a deal for an online deals website for Los Toltecos Mexican restaurant in Lake Ridge, she decided she would get the coupon and treat a friend to lunch. However, when it came time to settle the bill, the restaurant staff refused her coupon.
North Stafford, Va. — Paul Milde hadn’t used Twitter since June, so when he posted his latest Tweet on Saturday night he apparently wanted to make it count.
Milde, Stafford’s Aquia District Supervisor, threw his support behind Frank McKinney for Garrisonville District Supervisor. This comes after Milde earlier this month voted, with the rest of the Board, to appoint GOP Stafford School Board Member Ty Schieber to the Garrisonville Supervisor seat, on an interim basis, until voters go to the polls April 3 to select a permanent supervisor.
Alexandria, VA – After much anticipation, VRE and Prince William County’s newest addition to the Woodbridge VRE station will be opened to the public Monday, January 30, 2012. Dale Zehner, VRE Chief Executive Officer, announced VRE’s Woodbridge Station “Kiss and Ride “ lot, located along Route 1, will open for Monday morning VRE service.
The project provides separated car and bus access from the northbound lanes of Route 1, as well as improved pedestrian access. Construction consisted of surface grading and pavement, adding a turning lane on northbound Route 1, concrete curbing, gutters, sidewalks, storm water drainage, crosswalks, a bus shelter, lighting, and signage all within a limited area and a very busy thoroughfare.
Now that the man behind the shootings at military installations in Northern Virginia in 2010 plead guilty, we want to know if the shootings kept you away from the target of two of the shootings.

MARINE CORPS BASE QUANTICO, Va. (Jan. 19, 2011) – The National Museum of the Marine Corps’ newest temporary exhibit, titled “Focus on
Ability: Celebrating Our Wounded, Ill and Injured Marines’ Achievements,” features photographs and artwork of wounded, ill and injured Marines thriving on their journey to recovery. The exhibit will be on display on the Museum’s second floor Jan. 20 through May 10, 2012.

Junior Speedskating Championships
First up, head to Prince William Ice Center to catch the National Junior Speedskating Championships. Racing will take place starting Friday and goes through Saturday. Admission is free. Winners from this event will represent the U.S. in Australia.

On Tuesday night, January 24th, Delegate Mark Dudenhefer hosted his first ever Telephone Townhall for his constituents. From his office in the Virginia State Capitol, Duenhefer, joined by special guest Delegate Rich Anderson from Prince William’s 51st District, spoke with the more than 2,100 households throughout the 2nd District.
After a brief introduction, Delegate Dudenhefer took calls from his constituents and asked the audience questions that they were able to answer through their touch tone key pads. Topics of conversation included the Virginia Retirement System (VRS), HOT Lanes, K-12 education, and many other issues important to the 2nd District
“The goal of the Park Authority is to provide premier parks and recreation services to the residents of Prince William County,” said Brenda Gardziel, Park Authority Chair. “When you begin to factor in the number of residents we have to serve, the amount of park-land to develop and preserve, and the number of participants in our recreational activities, it becomes clear that by merging into Prince William County Government, there will be greater opportunities to meet the growing needs of our citizens.”
The Park Authority was established as a separate corporation in 1977, by the Board of County Supervisors, to provide the residents and visitors with quality recreational programs, parks and facilities. At that time, Prince William County had a population of over 150,000 residents and three parks. Today, Prince William County serves over 410,000 residents with 67 park properties comprising over 4,000 acres, and 289 fields. The majority of funding for the Park Authority comes from the County’s General Fund.
