Fredericksburg tops in state for population growth

The seven-member Board responsible for overseeing county operations and representing residents in each of their respective magisterial districts will make their first stop at the Fredericksburg Regional Chamber of Commerce Stafford Roundtable event at the Globe and Laurel Restaurant on U.S. in North Stafford. The event is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. and has billed as an opportunity for business owners to get an update on happenings that take place inside the Board of Supervisors Chambers in Stafford.

The Board at 7:30 a.m. Saturday will then meet at Gari Melchers Home and Studio at Belmont Plantation, at 224 Washington Street in Falmouth, to discuss plans for 2012, according to a press release.

Virginia State Police Sgt. Les Tyler said a flatbed tow truck with a car in tow was traveling in the center lane of the highway at the 140 mile post when the driver merged in the right lane. As he did, the tow truck struck a 2003 Chevrolet Pickup, said Tyler.

Striking the pickup forced the tow truck over the guardrail on the right shoulder and into an embankment.

Triangle, Va. — Brandon Anderson suffers from Muscular Dystrophy and lives with his mother in Triangle.

The 15-year-old has had trouble breathing since the earthquake that rocked Virginia last August destroyed the oil boiler outside their trailer. Brandon has problems breathing in cold and humid air, and the breathing problems only make his medical condition worse.

Delegate Richard Anderson (R-Prince William) created an online survey with questions concerning abortion, gun laws, providing tax incentives for corporations, and if voters should be able to register to vote by political party – an initiative Anderson has supported since the start of this year’s General Assembly in Richmond.
