One driver had a midweek meeting in Richmond at 10 a.m. Another was doing far more advanced scouting, planning a southbound trip starting on an August weekend.

DALE CITY, Va. — Prince William Neabsco District Supervisor John D. Jenkins chose Martin Luther King Elementary School for this year’s annual Neabsco District Arbor Day Celebration and to be the recipient of a native dogwood tree.

On April 26, Jenkins was joined by Prince William County Schools Superintendent Steven Walts, Neabsco District School Board Representative Lisa Bell, and 100 students along with representatives from the Prince William Soil & Water Conservation District (PWSWCD) to participate in a tree ceremony where the students read poetry and sang songs dedicated to trees.

SALEM, Va. — Salem won two completed games from the Nationals today at LewisGale Field. The Red Sox won a suspended game 10-0 and a rain shortened game over the P-Nats 6-2.

Play resumed with the score Salem 6-0 over Potomac in the bottom of the fourth from a contest that was stopped yesterday because of rain. Salem scored all six runs in the first inning yesterday off of Nationals starter Adam Olbrychowski.

WOODBRIDGE, Va. – A female student reported she was inappropriately touched by a male student during class at Woodbridge Middle School.

The 12-year-old student went to the school’s guidance staff about noon last Wednesday, May 2, to report that a male student had touched her breasts, through her shirt, at least 30 times since the beginning of the school year, according to the victim’s father whose name is being witheld for the safety of the alleged victim.


Politics

Congressman Gerry Connolly, D-11, will be honored for his support of the federal workforce and his efforts to promote good government at a ceremony Wednesday evening where he will receive the 2012 Public Service Award from the Public Employees Roundtable.

This is the first year the organization is handing out what will be annual awards.

WOODBRIDGE ,Va. — A former Prince William County Supervisor turned failed Virginia Senate candidate may soon have a spot as the At-Large Chair of the Hylton Performing Arts Executive Board.

John T. Stirrup is expected to be appointed to the Hylton Performing Arts Executive Board today at a meeting of the Prince William Board of County Supervisors meeting in Woodbridge. The Board is affiliated with the Hylton Performing Arts Center at George Mason University’s Prince William Camus in Manassas.
