WOODBRIDGE, Va. — A pedestrian was killed Saturday near the Potomac Plaza Shopping Center on U.S. 1 in Woodbridge. More from a police press release:
Crash – Fatality – On August 25th at 8:25PM, police responded to the 13700 block of Jefferson Hwy in Woodbridge (22191) for a crash involving a pedestrian. The investigation revealed that a pedestrian was crossing Jefferson Davis Hwy when he stepped into the path of the driver, and only occupant, of a 2004 Ford Expedition who was traveling northbound on Jefferson Davis Hwy.
NORTH STAFFORD, Va. — A taser weapon was used on a man after a Stafford County Sheriff’s deputy was punched in the face.
Sheriff’s deputies were called to the Micks restaurant in North Stafford late Sunday after an apparent drunken bar guest had to be removed from the restaurant. Deputies arrived to speak with the man who emitted a strong smell of alcohol while slurring his speech, said Stafford sheriff’s spokesman Bill Kennedy.

Summer break ended for faculty at all of Stafford County’s public schools today. Many returned to the classroom to prep for the upcoming school year, and to welcome parents and students at a series of back-to-school events this week.

Neil Armstrong, the first man to walk on the moon during the 1969 Apollo 11 mission, has died. He was 82.
STAFFORD, Va. – After leaving his job as the city manager of Manassas, Larry Hughes is now spending his retirement in parks.
Hughes has been appointed the Interim Director of the Stafford County Parks, Recreation, and Community Facilities Department.
