MANASSAS, Va. — The victims of the Connecticut school shooting were on the minds of about 20 residents and students who converged on the Manassas Museum for a candlelight vigil.

Many of the students were from Manassas’ Osbourn High School, and that gathered at 5:30 p.m. Monday with school instructional aides to voice their sadness and support for the victims at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

FROM POLICE REPORTS 

Rape – On December 16th at 12:55AM, detectives from the Special Victims Bureau responded to investigate a rape which was reported to have occurred in the 15100 block of Catalpa Ct in Woodbridge (22193). The investigation revealed that the victim, a 22 year old woman of Fredericksburg, met the accused online and was at his residence in the above area that evening. While at his residence, the accused raped the victim. After the encounter, the victim went to a nearby fire station where police were contacted. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested.

MANASSAS PARK, Va. — Drivers who use Va. 28 in Manassas Park and Prince William County could soon see a reversible lane to help ease traffic congestion.

The $4.8 million project would see the addition of a new lane from Manassas Drive to the Bull Run River at the Fairfax County line. The lane would carry drivers headed north from Prince William into Fairfax County in the mornings and south back into Prince William and Manassas Park in the evenings.
