WOODBRIDGE, Va. — Chemicals used in a fire suppression device inside a kitchen at Saunders Middle School left one employee sick and after school activities canceled Wednesday.
School administrators held a planned fire drill at 1:30 p.m. and staff and students had all safely made it outside the building. But during the drill, a fire suppression system was accidentally activated inside of the cafeteria kitchen and an employee had a reaction to the fire suppressant substance, said Prince William schools spokeswoman Irene Cromer.

DALE CITY, Va. — A new Americans in Wartime Museum hopes planes and tanks will draw automobiles.
Groundwork preparation for the $80 million facility has already begun on a 70-acre site behind a K-Mart store on Dale Boulevard in Dale City. The museum, once complete, will tell the story of people who fought in every U.S. war since World War I, as well as first responders on the homefront, featuring fully restored military vehicles, a “landscapes of war” exhibit that will allow visitors to experience what war fighting conditions were like on the ground and in the trenches, and the museum will feature tours and lectures led by wartime veterans.
PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. — The Lake Jackson Dam in Prince William County is leaking and a consultant has been brought into determine the cause of the problem, Coles District Supervisor Marty Nohe announced Tuesday.
The consultant comes after employees with the Prince William County Public Works Department have been left scratching their heads as to why water is seeping from the 85-year-old concrete structure. Nohe said the leak is a concern because of the small community of homes cropped up around the dam site. The structure sits west of the Town of Occoquan on the river of the same name. After it was built, a body of water formed to what is now Lake Jackson.
STAFFORD, Va. — Someone has been messing around on the roof of a pharmacy in Stafford.
A sheriff’s deputy was called to a Rite Aid pharmacy at 2852 Jefferson Davis Highway after the manager learned a hole had been cut into the ceiling.

Brandishing a Weapon on School Property – On January 7th at 11:45AM, police responded to Vaughn Elementary School located at 2200 York Dr in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate an altercation which took place on Friday, January 4th around 4:00PM. The investigation revealed that an 11 year old male student was involved in an altercation with another student, a 9 year old male. During the encounter, the 11 year old displayed a BB gun and pointed it towards the other student. The school had already been dismissed for the day; however the altercation did occur outdoors on school property. No shots were fired and no injuries were reported. Following the investigation, the 11 year old student was charged.
