DUMFRIES, Va. — A firefighter who spent years in the Dumfries-Triangle Fire Department passed away after a battle with cancer.
Captain Stanley “Pepper” Johnson died Monday, Aug. 26 and will be buried on Wednesday at Quantico National Cemetery.

LAKE RIDGE, Va. — Delegate Richard Anderson will open his campaign headquarters in Lake Ridge on Wednesday.
The incumbent will be joined by Rep. Rob Wittman, R-Va. 1, and Delegate Scott Lingamfelter, when they open their office at Dillingham Square next to Sun Trust Bank, according to a press release. The opening ceremony is open to the public and starts at 7 p.m.
Jessica Dietrichson (14) of Dumfries makes historical first in Lancaster County Little League Spanish Mackerel tournament held Saturday, August 24.
The tournament was based in Kilmarnock located in Virginia’s Northern Neck and competed by 56 vessels in the waters of the Chesapeake Bay. Jessica, along with her parents Douglas and Jacque Dietrichson, her siblings Eric (12), Gabe (10), and Susannah (9) competed for over $35,000 in prize money. The tournament was also the first in the country to offer a designated cash purse for individuals with disabilities. Jessica, along with her brothers Eric and Gabe, each have Autism and were declared eligible to compete for the Special Angler purse.

Mom on the Run
I’m in the grocery store, wheeling my cart slowly, slowly down the aisles. Up and down, up and down. If I don’t go through the store in the same order, not skipping any aisles, I forget things. I may not remember I need mayonnaise until I’m in the actual condiments aisle, confronted with it. So up and down I go for the whole length of the store, every time.
