NORTH STAFFORD, Va. — Power will soon be cut temporarily to some homes in Stafford County.

The utility will work to upgrade a switch in the area of Park Ridge along Parkway Boulevard between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7. The newer, more reliable switch will allow the utility to reroute power in the event of an outage, reduce the number of customers affected in the event of an outage, as well as prevent outages from occurring.

WOODBRIDGE, Va. – Delegate Richard L. Anderson (R-Prince William) will host a 51st House District Town Hall on Sequestration on August 27th at 7:30 p.m. at Lake Ridge Baptist Church in Woodbridge.

The event comes as Virginia is working to mitigate the effects of the federal sequestration on residents of Northern Virginia and Hampton Roads.

Robert Wayne Gentry, 63, of Rixeyville died Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at his residence. He was born January 9, 1950 to Frances Davis of Palmyra and the late John W. Gentry.

Mr. Gentry was owner and operator of Gentry’s Tree and Landscaping for over 45 years. He believed in hard work and was dedicated not only to his family and friends but his lifelong customers. He took pride in his work and family. He also enjoyed hunting, the outdoors and was a member of Culpeper Moose Lodge.

WOODBRIDGE, Va. – The local Spirit & Life United Methodist Church is part of a new trend that’s sweeping the nation. It’s one of thousands of new church plants that seek to redefine traditional concepts of worship in our Twenty-First Century world, while still remaining true to millenias-old principles of the Christian faith.

Spirit & Life is hosting an exciting “Fall Kickoff Event” on Sunday, Sept. 15, 2013 at 10 a.m. at Forest Park High School (located at 15721 Forest Park Drive, Woodbridge). Electric guitars, a keyboard, and drums will rock the school auditorium. Adults will be treated to a rooted but relevant message. Children and youth will be supervised by professional staff as they enjoy age-appropriate activities including a moon bounce and other games. Plus a free lunch on site will conclude the morning’s fun.
