DUMFRIES, Va. — Art, gift baskets, gift certificates, and historical memorabilia were silently auctioned off in Dumfries on Saturday night.

Historic Dumfries’ 2nd Annual Victorian Holiday Silent Auction was held at the Dumfries – Triangle Rescue Squad. About 200 people came to the event, each purchasing a ticket for $5 each to support the town’s museum, the Weems-Botts House, which served as the home of George Washington’s biographer.

STAFFORD, Va. — Stafford County no longer remains in the running to be the next location for a new FBI headquarters.

Prince William County, along with neighbors in Fairfax, Loudoun, and Arlington counties will still be considered. So will cities of Alexandria, Fairfax, Falls Church, Herndon, Manassas, and Vienna. Washington, D.C., and Montgomery and Prince Georges counties in Maryland will also be considered.

HAYMARKET, Va. — A town hall meeting to address class size in area schools will be held Thursday night.

Prince William Gainesville Supervisor Peter Candland announced the forum on his website to take place at 7 p.m. at Alvey Elementary School at 5300 Waverly Farm Drive in Haymarket.

“All Is Lost” has nothing to do with the Obama Administration. It’s the latest Robert Redford (“The Company You Keep”) vehicle, and this time it’s a boat. This movie is the brainchild of Writer/Director J.C. Chandor (“Margin Call”), and for some reason he needed the 77-year-old Redford to pull it off.
