DUMFRIES — The members of Grace Church are donating new and gently-used items which are available at affordable prices to the local community on July 13.
From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., there will be a wide array of items including clothes, jewelry, books, toys, and household goods.
MANASSAS — Tina V will be singing the national anthem to kick off Celebrate America, a fireworks display in Manassas.
Tina V is the founder of the Warrior Woman program which aids women in their personal growth and development.
STAFFORD — Celebrate America’s 243rd birthday with food, fun, and fireworks at the “July 4th Spectacular” at John Lee Pratt Memorial Park.
Stafford hosts the annual event which is part of Fredericksburg’s July 4th Heritage Festival.
RICHMOND — The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will be putting construction on hold throughout the state for holiday travel from noon on Wednesday, July 3 until noon on Friday, July 5.
In particular, VDOT will be suspending most highway work zones and lifting most lane closures on interstates and major roads.

MANASSAS — With Vice Mayor Ken Elston resigning, the position is open for a resident of Manassas to fill before a special election can be held in November.
In May, Elston notified the public of his official resignation from City Council effective at the end of July 2019.
PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY — The H.L. Mooney Advanced Water Reclamation Facility won a Platinum Peak Performance Award from the National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA).
The wastewater treatment plant located in Woodbridge has achieved 100 percent regulatory compliance for the last 10 years.
PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY — (Press Release) One of Prince William County’s stream restoration projects recently earned the top award for Project of the Year from the American Public Works Association.
Dewey’s Creek Reach I project at Possum Point Road was recognized as the best restoration job in the state for its good use of construction management techniques, use of sustainable infrastructure, unusual accomplishments under adverse conditions, and good quality control.
