Stafford County needs $131,000 in additional funds if its parks and recreation department is going to operate its annual summer programs.

Germanna Community College is offering free zoom sessions for citizens in need of computer and career help over the Summer.

In an effort to help local people laid off due to the pandemic, Germanna Community College is offering a free “Summer Skillup” online class this summer called, “Computers and Career Planning- Your Path to Success.” The class builds an understanding of computer essentials, popular programs, and integrates this knowledge into resume creation for job searches, states Michael Zitz, of Germanna College in an email.

Windows at businesses along Liberia Avenue in Manassas were smashed following protest Sunday evening.

Manassas police spokeswoman Sarah Maroney said, after a group of peaceful protesters left, new ones showed and starting throwing objects, which ended up smashing the glass of businesses like Glory Days Grill.


People are struggling now more than ever to provide food for their hungry families and volunteers are needed in food shelters to help them.

 “To combat this growing hardship, Prince William County and the cities of Manassas Park and Manassas have come together with many local nonprofits to create the Community Feeding Taskforce. A central warehouse has been created in the City of Manassas where large deliveries of food are broken down and transported to 45 food pantries for distribution in our communities,” according to Deb Hannum in an email sent to us for Volunteer Prince William.

Gov. Ralph Northam has announced that on Friday, May 29, Northern Virginia will move into phase one of reopening.

On Wednesday, May 27, Northam tweeted what will and will not be available for the public to do upon reopening.


Traffic

The driver of a motorcycled was killed while feeling police in Dale City, police said.

The crash occurred at 11:25 p.m. on Thursday, May 28, when Virginia State Police Trooper, D.A. Bragg, ordered two motorcyclists to stop for reckless driving while traveling on Minnieville Road, According to a Virginia State Police spokeswoman.
