There was a first today at the Hylton Performing Arts Center: A massive naturalization ceremony for nearly 450 new U.S. citizens.
A line of people backed out the front door of the performing arts center at 8:30 a.m. today. What is normally an empty parking lot was full of cars.

In observance of the Independence Day holiday, there will be no PRTC bus service on Monday, July 4. Regular Saturday service will resume on Tuesday, July 5.

Town leaders this week amended a transient room rental tax provision in the town code that allows the town to collect a room fee on top of the hotel tax already levied and charged by hotels.
