Lane closures for milling and paving will occur nightly on portions of Featherstone Road and Blackburn Road from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday, Sept. 19 through Thursday, Sept. 22, and from 9 p.m. to 9 a.m. Friday, Sept. 23, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.

Domestic Assault & Battery | Police Officer Arrest – On September 13 at 11:00PM, officers responded to investigate a domestic assault which was reported to have occurred at a residence located in the 15500 block of Laurel Ridge Rd in Dumfries (22025). The victim, a 51-year-old woman of Dumfries, reported to police that she and the accused, an acquaintance, were involved in a verbal argument which escalated. During the encounter, the accused assaulted the victim. Minor injuries were reported. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested without further incident. The accused is a sworn Police Officer of the Prince William County Police Department. The accused will be reassigned to an administrative position and his police powers have been suspended pending an internal investigation.

Manassas police announced the arrest of a man suspected in “several recent shootings in the Georgetown South Community” about 24 hours after three people were shot in the neighborhood.
Police spokeswoman Adrienne Helms stated she did not “have any evidence to confirm or deny” that the suspected charged Thursday night, David Mendoza, was the shooter in Wednesday night’s shooting.
Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe will attend the unveiling of a new statue for the long-serving Charles J. Colgan, according to George Mason University Science and Technology Campus Director of Campus Relations Molly Grove.
Colgan, of Manassas, now retired, was the longest-serving Virginia State Senator in Richmond.

Abduction | Domestic Related – On September 13 at 11:40PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 3100 block of Arrowhead Ct in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate a domestic disturbance. The victim, a 36-year-old woman of Woodbridge, reported to police that she and the accused, an acquaintance, were involved in a verbal argument which escalated. During the encounter, the accused prevented the victim from leaving the room and, at one point, held her in a bathroom. The victim screamed which prompted neighbors to contact police. Officers arrived and, upon hearing additional screaming, forced entry into the home finding the victim in the bathroom. The victim was not injured. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested without further incident.
