A heat advisory goes into effect on Wednesday as the mercury is expected to climb into the middle 90s, pushing up heat index values around the region above the century mark.

The security company for the business reported a male subject had entered the business unlawfully. Responding officers located the suspect asleep inside of the business and he was taken into custody.

Shooting investigation – On July 13 at 8:00PM, officers responded to the Orchard Landing Apartments located in the 3100 block of Chesapeake Dr. in Dumfries (22026) to investigate a shooting.

Virginia State Police Trooper A. Hansen is investigating a two-vehicle fatal crash in Stafford County. The crash occurred July 13, 2019 at 1:09 p.m. on Poplar Road near Tacketts Mill Road.

Child Abuse Investigation – On July 5 at 10:30 a.m., detectives with the Special Victims Unit, in coordination with Child Protective Services, began an investigation into alleged child abuse at the Minnieland Academy located at 14910 Feeder Ln. in Woodbridge (22193).
