Councilwoman Michelle Davis-Younger says she’s going to seek the nomination to be the next Manassas Mayor.

Davis-Younger took office in January 2019. Councilwoman Michelle Davis-Younger is a lifelong resident of the City of Manassas. She graduated from Stonewall Jackson Senior High School in 1987.


(Press Release) U.S. Congressman Gerry Connolly will join the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Commissioner Richard D. Holcomb for a brief news conference on REAL ID, prior to applying for his REAL ID with DMV Connect, the department’s mobile “office in a suitcase.”

It’ll take place on Monday, December 9, 2019, at 11 a.m. at the Dumfries DMV Select, Town of Dumfries Customer Service Center, 17739 Main Street, Suite 150, at Dumfries Town Hall.

(Press Release) Prince William County Department of Parks, Recreation & Tourism will host a Ribbon Cutting ceremony for Gr? – A Natural Education Space at Locust Shade Park, located at 4780 Locust Shade Drive in Triangle, on Saturday, December 14, at 11 a.m.

Attendees will have the opportunity to tour the hands-on natural education exhibits and participate in activities.


Traffic

(Press Release ) North in Centreville will require reducing Route 29 under I-66 to a single lane in each direction starting at 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13, through 5 a.m. Monday, Dec. 16. Two-way traffic will run on Route 29 South during this period.

Drivers using ramps to and from I-66 will not be allowed to make left turns during this time. Detours will be posted. Drivers should expect delays if traveling in this area.

(Press Release) A suspect shot at deputies with the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office early on Saturday morning when they attempted to serve a warrant.

The suspect was later found deceased in the apartment from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. On December 7, 2019, at approximately 12:30 a.m., deputies responded to 2200 Green Tree Road, Apartment 204 for a warrant service.

Prince William police told us about two separate armed robberies that occurred.

Armed Robbery – On December 2 at 10:31PM, officers responded to the 7-Eleven located at 18075 Fraley Blvd in Dumfries (22026) to investigate a robbery. The investigation revealed that a masked man entered the business and approached the store clerk. During the encounter, the man brandished a weapon and demanded money. The suspect took an undisclosed amount of money before fleeing on foot. No injuries were reported. A police K-9 search for the suspect who was not located. Suspect Description: Black male, between 23-27 years of age, 5’5”, 170lbs with a medium build and light complexion Last seen wearing a mask, gray hooded sweatshirt, and black pants
