A magnitude 3.6 earthquake struck the Washington region about 5 a.m. Friday.
The quake was reported to 10 miles northwest of Rockville, Md. and 15 east of Leesburg, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The mobile device was stolen between June 18 and 19, from a car parked at the home of a county employee.
Officials reported the theft for the first time Thursday morning.
FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. – A five-lane portion of the Capital Beltway will be reduced to four lanes tomorrow.
The Virginia Department of Transportation calls it a lane shift, and it will take place three-quarters of a mile before Va. 620 (Braddock Road). The new lane configuration will be in place until late December and comes as part of the Beltway High Occupancy Vehicle lanes project.

Virginia officials have partnered leaders in North Carolina to bring high-speed rail to both states.
The Virginia – North Carolina High Speed Rail compact, authorized by congress, will look at constructing a high-speed rail corridor between Washington and Charlotte, N.C. that could cost as much as $4.15 billion, according to a Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation spokesman.

WOODBRIDGE, Va. – Two men involved in a road rage incident that left 13 rounds fired at a dump truck on Interstate 95 in Woodbridge have been indicted.
The trial for Gabriel Poventud, 25, of 15192 Bannon Way in Woodbridge, begins Dec. 28. He is charged with attempted murder, use of a firearm in commission of a felony, shooting at an occupied vehicle and reckless handling of a firearm.
LORTON, Va.—Skeletal remains found in Lorton on Monday night will be sent to Richmond for a closer examination.
