Lake Ridge, Va. –– Police say a man robbed a grocery store and then led police on a chase, all while his young child was inside the getaway car.
Officers were called to the Bloom grocery store at 12420 Dillingham Square in Lake Ridge at 9:53 p.m. Monday for a report of a robbery.
Fairfax County, Va. –– As flu season approaches, Fairfax County officials are betting many have questions how to protect themselves from getting sick.
An online discussion will be held at 11 a.m. on the county’s Web site where residents can ask questions about the upcoming flu season to Dr. Peter Troell, of the county’s health department.
Quantico, Va. –– It’s going to get loud near the Quantico Marine Corps Base this week.
On Wednesday and Thursday, residents who live near the base may have their windows rattled as explosives will be set off on base as part of munitions training.
A Stafford County sheriff’s deputy who happened to be driving by a shopping center in the 600 block of Garrisonville Road (Va. 610) heard a burglar alarm going off at 2:53 a.m.
That alarm was coming from the Car Quest auto parts store, which sits next to a nail shop, hair salon and a florist.
Police were called at 8:30 p.m. to the Courtyard Marriot hotel, at 6710 Commerce Street in Springfield, after shots had been fired.
When they arrived, they found a 21-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds. (more…)
Samuel Posey, 31, was driving his GSX 100 motorcycle east on Edsall Road when he collided with a 2002 Isuzu Rodeo, driven by a 48-year-old woman.
The woman had stopped at the corner of Dublin Avenue, and then made a left turn onto Edsall Road, said a Fairfax County police spokesman.
Washington’s transportation department Tuesday is expected to release the results of a new survey of commuters who were told to relocate their Downtown Slug line.
A two-week pilot project earlier this month required the relocation of Slugs – commuters who ride in vehicles of three or more occupants – from their pick-up point on 14th Street, between H Street and New York Avenue, one block over to 15th Street.
Stafford County, Va. –– There is renewed talk about improving Stafford’s roads following the death of a high school student.
Every road in the county should be reviewed for safety, said Board of Supervisor’s Chairman Mark Dudenhefer earlier this month. But he focused specifically on Mountain View Road – a two-lane thoroughfare that is used to transport commuters to and from work, and students to Mountain View High School.
Fairfax County, Va. –– Police say they tracked down the man responsible for burglarized a series of businesses in the Alexandria area and arrested him.
The suspect on Oct. 3 broke into several businesses along Shawnee Road, off Edsall Road in Fairfax County, and took six laptop computers, said Fairfax County police spokesman Richard Henry.
