Virginia State Police today urge residents to stay vigilant, and as they have during the past nine months, continue to remind people that if they see something suspicious they should tell authorities.

“At this time, there is no known direct threat against Virginia or its infrastructure as a result of these recent events,” said Virginia State Police Superintendent Colonel W. Steven Flaherty. “We simply want to remind our citizens to stay attune to their surroundings and environment, and to always report suspicious activity to law enforcement.”

Portions of Rocky Run Road, Brookview Lane and Berea Woods Drive will be flooded as part the construction project to build Rocky Pen Reservoir near Village Parkway in south Stafford.

Residents who live at three home sites that would be cut off from the street grid after the flooding would be able to access the roads after an extension of Cool Well Court is built, according to county documents.

The confirmation by President Obama that Osama Bin Laden was killed by a secret U.S. government operation is a significant development in our war against Al Queda.  We have cut off the head of the evil terrorist organization that killed more than 3,000 Americans and thousands more across the world.

I hope the news of Bin Laden’s death brings some measure of comfort to the families of those who perished in the September 11 attacks on the Pentagon, the World Trade Center, and Shanksville, Pennsylvania, as well as the American military families who have lost sons and daughters in the war against terrorism.

Salem, Va. –– The bottom third of the Salem Red Sox order provided unlikely pop and triggered a 5-2 series opening win over the Potomac Nationals Friday night at LewisGale Field.

The final three hitters on the lineup card drove in three runs, scored three and belted two extra base hits; all told, it was too much for the road weary Nationals to overcome and the Sox took Game One in front of 3,235 in the Roanoke Valley.

Sheriff’s deputies arrested two men they say were involved in the stabbing, one of them last night at a Days Inn hotel and another Thursday night at a home in the Olde Forge neighborhood, on Sledgehammer Drive.

About 2 p.m. Tuesday, three men drove themselves to a hospital after they were stabbed in broad daylight during a football game on the street.

Woodbridge, Va. –– Some new Slug lines are coming to the area beginning Monday.

Three of the new lines will be at the First Baptist Church of Woodbridge –– an underused commuter lot now leased by Prince William County.
