WOODBRIDGE, Va. — Police in Prince William County are investigating a series of rapes.

In the first case, a 27-year-old woman told police Saturday morning she had been involved in an argument with a suspect at an apartment in the 15000 block of Lost Canyon Court in Woodbridge on Friday night. The fight escalated and the suspect broke the victim’s cell phone preventing her from calling police and then sexually assaulted the victim, according to police documents.

A Woodbridge man and former police officer who admitted to stealing coins from Metro and then using them to buy lottery tickets has plead guilty.

John Vincent Haile, 52, of Woodbridge and his accomplice, Dexter McDade, 58, of Bowie, Md., plead guilty to theft concerning programs receiving Federal funds and conspiring to commit money laundering.

Traffic

Metro today unveiled a new system map to reflect enhanced rush hour service—called Rush Plus—beginning June 18.

Rush Plus is an expansion of rush hour service that will result in additional trains between Mt. Vernon Square and Greenbelt, and between Vienna and Court House, as well as new transfer-free travel opportunities between stations on several lines. Rush Plus is designed to ease crowding, improve the commuting experience for Metrorail riders on the Orange, Blue, Green and Yellow lines, and prepare for the future Silver Line.

Politics

WOODBRIDGE, Va. — On Thursday March 22, 2012, Woodbridge District Supervisor Frank Principi will host his fifth tele-town hall. At 7 p.m., 10,000 phone numbers will be automatically dialed, asking Woodbridge residents to participate in the live town hall discussion over the phone. The focus of the discussion will be on the proposed 2013 Budget. Once connected, residents can press 1 to ask a question or choose to just listen to the dialogue.

“I get very good feedback from these teletown hall meetings,” said Supervisor Principi. “People appreciate this easy and convenient way to get informed about what’s happening with local government. It also helps me reach an audience that doesn’t regularly attend town halls, for whatever reason. I would encourage anyone who receives my call to feel free to ask a question.”
