Manassas Alzheimer’s walk beats fundraising goals

A walk to end Alzheimer’s Disease toured Manassas neighborhoods and exceeded fundraising goals.

The annual Tri-County Walk to End Alzheimer’s raised $100,114, a total of $114 more than the goal.

The walk was held on Oct. 15, 2015, and the route took participants from Harris Pavilion through some of the city’s historic neighborhoods. Nearly 1,000 people came out to participate in the event.

“I’m excited to see our fundraising not only meet but exceed the goals we had set for ourselves. I think it shows this event is gaining momentum, year-over-year, and showcases the incredible generosity of those in the greater Manassas region,” said Manassas City Councilman Ian Lovejoy, who also served as chairman of the walk committee.

he 2016 walk is scheduled for Saturday, October 15, and is planned to also take place in Manassas.

The funds raised through Walk to End Alzheimer’s benefit the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association.
