Kathryn Jane Coleman
September 7, 1950 – May 22, 2014

Kathryn Jane Coleman, daughter of George Atkinson Cashion and Jane Jack Cashion was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on September 7th, 1950. She was raised in Darby, Pennsylvania. She attended Ridge Avenue Elementary, Darby Colwyn Jr. and Sr. High, and Lees McRae College in Banner Elk, N.C.

When she was thirteen, Jane met Ronald S. Coleman. Jane and Ron spent the next 50 years building their family. “Through the years,” Jane and Ron supported each other through every hardship, and they celebrated every moment life had to offer. They are the epitome of true love.
Jane embraced the military lifestyle, and served the U.S via her husband for 41 years. Jane was a devoted military spouse, and her legacy is a reminder that “those who wait also serve.”

Throughout her life, Jane held a variety of jobs at various duty stations and devoted a large portion of her time to volunteering. Jane’s other hobbies included gardening, reading, and taking care of her dogs and cats.

Jane dedicated her life to raising her five daughters and four granddaughters. Her incredible commitment to her family is evident to all who know them. She often said her children were her greatest accomplishment. Jane was always surrounded by Ron and “the girls.”

Jane is survived by her husband, LtGen. Ronald S. Coleman, daughters Susan Coleman, Jennifer (Jim) Mitchell, Christina Coleman, Kathryn (Kevin) Edmond, and Stephanie Coleman, granddaughters Sara (Isiah) Coleman, Samantha Coleman, Sonya Coleman, and Kennedy Edmond, great-granddaughter Aubrey Pressley, sister Margaret Dowd, and a host of devoted friends and family.

A memorial service will be held at the Quantico Chapel on Thursday, May 29th at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Marine Corps Association, Marine Corps Law Enforcement Foundation, or the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation.
