1 in Custody after Police Chase Ends in Prince William

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. — One man is custody tonight following a police pursuit that ended on Purcell Road in a wreck in Prince William County.

At approximately 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Virginia State Police initiated a pursuit of a GMC Yukon that refused to stop for a trooper on Route 234 near Route 28 in Prince William County. As the Yukon continued to flee from troopers, it attempted to illegally pass a Ford Escape on Purcell Road. The Yukon sideswiped the Ford and then crashed at approximately 5:40 p.m. in the 12900 block of Purcell Road in Manassas.

The driver of the Yukon, Walter Nibblins, 38, of Culpeper, Va., then fled on foot from the scene. With the assistance of Prince William County Police and Fairfax County Police aviation, Nibblins was located nearby and apprehended without incident at approximately 6:40 p.m.

Nibblins was transported to Prince William County Adult Detention Center and has been charged with distribution of heroin, one felony count of eluding police, and one felony count of hit-and-run.
