DUMFRIES, Va. — Police in Prince William County said a 41-year-old man was stabbed while playing basketball in Dumfries.

Malicious Wounding – On July 17th at 9:17PM, police responded to investigate a stabbing which was reported to have occurred in the 1100 block of Kearsarge Dr in Dumfries (22026). The victim, a 41 year old man of Dumfries, reported to police that he was playing basketball on the nearby basketball court with several other persons when a verbal altercation ensued between himself and an unknown man.
The altercation escalated physically and, at one point, the man displayed a knife and stabbed the victim to his abdomen. The victim was driven to the hospital by an acquaintance where police were contacted. Injuries sustained are believed to be non-life threatening.

Black male, between 20 & 30 years of age, 6’3” with a medium build, bald, and a goatee
Last seen wearing a tank top and denim shorts
