
Just after 4 a.m. Monday, Spotsylvania Fire and Rescue units responded to a large fire at the Pick-A-Part auto salvage yard in the 9000 block of Patriot Highway. Crews found a significant blaze involving multiple vehicles that spread through the junkyard; more than 100 vehicles are believed to have been involved.
More than 30 fire and rescue personnel remained on scene later in the morning extinguishing remaining fire and conducting overhaul operations, with crews expected to stay for several more hours. No injuries were reported to civilians or firefighters, according to an update from the Spotsylvania Emergency Communications Center.
The yard at 9001 Patriot Highway is the Fredericksburg/Spotsylvania location of Pick-A-Part Recycled Auto Parts, a longtime self-service and full-service used auto parts business that also has a Stafford site.
The cause of the fire is unknown and under investigation. The original report does not address whether Patriot Highway experienced any closures or traffic impacts, the expected effect on the business’s normal operations, ownership comments, or any environmental concerns common to vehicle fires such as fluids or tires.

Just after 4:00 a.m. this morning, the Spotsylvania Emergency Communications Center received a report of a large fire in the 9000 block of Patriot Highway.
Spotsylvania Fire and Rescue units began arriving approximately eight minutes later and found a significant fire within a junkyard involving multiple vehicles. Crews quickly began applying water, but the fire continued to spread to additional vehicles. More than 100 vehicles are believed to have been involved.
As of this posting, more than 30 Fire and Rescue personnel remain on scene extinguishing remaining fire and conducting overhaul operations. Crews are expected to remain on scene for several more hours.
There have been no reported injuries to civilians or fire service personnel.
The cause of the fire is currently unknown and remains under investigation.
