A pedestrian was killed late Saturday night after being struck by two vehicles in Dumfries. Early Sunday, a separate fatal crash on Interstate 495 in Fairfax County left one driver dead and another charged with driving while intoxicated.
The Dumfries crash involved a man crossing the road outside a marked crosswalk. The Fairfax County crash left a Toyota Camry in flames. Both incidents remain under investigation.

Fatal Pedestrian Crash in Dumfries
Officers responded about 11:44 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, to the area of Dumfries Road and Fraley Boulevard in Dumfries for a crash involving a pedestrian.
A 44-year-old man was crossing Fraley Boulevard when he was struck by a 2017 Lexus RX350 traveling southbound. A 2016 BMW M4, also traveling southbound, then struck the pedestrian. The man was not in a designated crosswalk and was not wearing reflective clothing. He died at the scene.
The pedestrian was identified as Emanuel De Jesus Burgos Mejia, 44, of Triangle. Crash investigators are asking anyone who witnessed the crash to contact police.

Fatal Crash on Interstate 495
Virginia State Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred about 2:20 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 16, on Interstate 495 northbound south of Braddock Road in Fairfax County.
Troopers found a Toyota Camry on fire and a white BMW with front-end damage. The driver of the Camry died at the scene. Identification is pending.
The BMW driver was taken to a hospital with serious injuries and has been charged with driving while intoxicated. The crash remains under investigation.
