Body found in Powells Creek, no foul play suspected

A missing 34-year-old man’s body was discovered in Powells Creek near Dyers Mill Ct in Woodbridge.

Officers responded to the area on September 27 after information from an investigation led them to the location. The man had been reported missing and endangered on September 25. Preliminary findings show no signs of foul play, and the body was sent for an autopsy to determine the cause of death. Authorities assure there is no threat to the community.

In other incidents, officers investigated two separate cases of reckless handling of a firearm in Woodbridge. In one case, a bullet hole was found in a camper at Holly Acres RV Marine & Storage, and in another, a bullet hole was discovered in a vehicle on Madison Farm Dr. No injuries or additional damage were reported in either case.

A road rage incident in Dumfries involved a driver brandishing a firearm at another motorist. No shots were fired, and no injuries occurred. The suspect is described as a 40-year-old black male driving a gray hatchback sedan.

Two indecent exposure incidents were reported, one in Woodbridge and another in Manassas. In both cases, the suspects exposed themselves to women in parking lots. No physical contact or injuries were reported.

A commercial burglary at Habor Side Market in Woodbridge involved a suspect breaking a window to enter and stealing products. The suspect fled on an electric scooter and was not located despite a police search.

Death Investigation – On September 27, at 8:28AM, officers responded to the area of Powells Creek near the 2600 block of Dyers Mill Ct in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a death. The investigation stemmed from a reported missing and endangered 34-year-old man from September 25. Information obtained during the investigation led officers to the above area where the man’s body was located in the creek. The man was pronounced dead on scene. Preliminarily, there were no signs of foul play. The body was transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death. At this time, there is no threat to the community concerning the death. More information regarding the investigation will be released if deemed necessary.

Reckless Handling of a Firearm – On September 27 at 12:16PM, officers responded to Holly Acres RV Marine & Storage located at 13270 Minnieville Rd in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate a destruction of property. The investigation revealed a bullet hole was found in the side of a camper on the property. The damage is believed to have occurred sometime between September 21 and September 27. No shots fired calls had been received in the area and no injuries or other property damage were reported.

Reckless Handling of a Firearm – On September 27 at 7:51AM, officers responded to a residence located in the 13500 block of Madison Farm Dr in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate a destruction of property. The investigation revealed the homeowner’s vehicle was found with a bullet hole in a rear passenger door. The damage is believed to have occurred sometime overnight. No shots fired calls had been received in the area and no injuries or other property damage were reported.

Brandishing of a Firearm – On September 27 at 7:31PM, officers responded to the area of Country Club Dr and Dumfries Rd in Dumfries (22025) to investigate a road rage. The investigation revealed the victim, a 61-year-old man, was driving in the above area when he encountered the driver of another vehicle described as a gray hatchback sedan. At one point during the encounter, the other driver brandished a firearm before the parties separated, and the other vehicle continued westbound on Dumfries Rd. No shots were fired, and no injuries were reported. The other driver was described as a black male, approximately 40-years-old.

Indecent Exposure – On September 27 at 2:43PM, officers responded to the 5500 block of Mapledale Plz in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate an indecent exposure. The investigation revealed the victim, a 35-year-old woman, was sitting in her vehicle in a parking lot in the above area when she was approached by an unknown man. During the encounter, the man exposed himself towards the victim and made inappropriate gestures before witnesses intervened and the man left the area on foot. No physical contact occurred, and no injuries were reported. Officers searched the area for the suspect who was not located.

Suspect Description: White male, unknown age, 5’10”, 180lbs with short black hair, brown eyes, and an unshaven face. No last known clothing description available.

Indecent Exposure – On September 27 at 6:53AM, officers responded to the Westgate Apartments located in the 8000 block of Ashdale Ave in Manassas (20109) to investigate an indecent exposure. The investigation revealed the victim, a 25-year-old woman, was walking to her vehicle in the parking lot of the complex when she observed an unknown man. During the encounter, the man exposed himself towards the victim. No physical contact occurred, and no injuries were reported. The suspect was described as a heavier-set, dark complected man around 5’7” wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, dark-colored pants, and a “surgical” style mask.

Commercial Burglary – On September 28 at 2:08AM, officer responded to the Habor Side Market located at 571 Harbor Side St in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a burglary. The investigation revealed an unknown man forced entry into the business through a front glass window before taking product and leaving the area on an electric scooter. A police K-9 and air support searched the area for the suspect who was not located.

Suspect Description: A black male, approximately 6’2” with a thin build. Last seen wearing dark-colored Adidas pants, white shoes, a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt, and a mask.
