PRINCE WILLAM COUNTY — (Press release) The Prince William County School Board has approved the School Division’s $1.24 billion budget for the Fiscal Year 2020.
It’s an increase of about four percent over the previous year’s budget.
“I am proud of the work our superintendent and staff have done to develop a budget, the best in more than a decade, that funds the critical needs of our students and staff,” said Prince William County School Board Chairman At-large Dr. Babur Lateef. “When I was appointed and then elected School Board Chair I promised to fight for student success, safety & security, reduce class size, and increase teacher salaries. This budget keeps those promises and reflects my dedication to listening to the people of Prince William County.”
Student Success
- Increased Special Education Funding
- $1 million for CTE programs
- $1.5 million Pre-K Education
Safety & Security
- Additional counselors
Space for Learning
- $3.2 million to fund additional classrooms
- Additional funding for fields and auxiliary gyms
Teacher Salaries
- 4.8% salary increase
The Board of County Supervisors will consider the Prince William County Public Schools budget on April 2, with final approval scheduled for April 30.
