Don Shaw seeks the Neabsco District seat in Sunday’s Firehouse Primary

DALE CITY — (Press release) Today, Don Shaw declared his candidacy for the Neabsco Supervisor position, left vacant due to the passing of long-time Neabsco District Supervisor John Jenkins.

The Prince William County Democratic Committee has organized a caucus to be run February 24, 2019 from 3 to 7 p.m. at Dale City Volunteer Fire Department Station 13 at 13511 Hillendale Drive in Dale City.

Shaw is a retired Air Force Senior Master Sergeant who also served as a senior manager in the federal government. He is currently a Vice President in a veteran-owned small business and continues his service to the community by volunteering in many different organizations.

Shaw served on Supervisor Jenkins’ budget committee and had the honor of chairing the committee last year. He is also a former Neabsco Director of the Committee of 100, current Member of the Board of Directors for ARC/Insight, and a former Chair of the Prince William County Democratic Committee.

Shaw and his wife, Joyce, established a community forum called Potluck and Policy, which is in its third year. The motivation behind the series is to bring the community together to discuss important issues and share a meal.

Supervisor Jenkins, along with Supervisor Principi, were the keynote speakers at the inaugural event.

Don and his family first moved to Neabsco in 1997 and except for a short period of time after 9/11 when the Army moved them away from the area, have lived in Prince William County continuously since then.

“Public service is not about those in office, but about the people they serve,” said Shaw. He continued, “John embodied the ideal public servant and if so honored to succeed him in office, I would hope to continue that legacy.”
