Basement fire displaces four from Dale City townhouse

A fire that broke out Monday evening has left four residents without a home after damaging a Dale City townhouse.

Fire and rescue crews responded at 6:45 p.m. on December 22, 2025, to the 15100 block of Catalpa Court. Upon arrival, they found heavy smoke coming from the townhouse. All occupants had safely evacuated the building before firefighters arrived.

The fire was concentrated in the basement and quickly spread through the home. Crews extinguished the flames despite concerns about the building’s structural stability. No injuries were reported, but the townhouse sustained extensive damage and was deemed unsafe to occupy by the Building Official.

The fire displaced three adults and one child. The American Red Cross is assisting the family. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Prince William County Fire Marshal’s Office.
