Route 3 Reopened after Brush Fire

Route 3 eastbound and westbound have reopened in Spotsylvania County between Orange Plank Road and Elys Ford Road/Old Plank Road. The detours have been lifted.

“Route 3 is closed in both directions in Spotsylvania County between the intersections of Orange Plank Road and Elys Ford Road/Old Plank Road for a brush fire in the area of Wilderness Presidential Resort,” VDOT Fredericksburg District announced. “Travelers should seek alternate routes. Eastbound Route 3 traffic is being detoured at Orange Plank Road. Westbound Route 3 traffic is being detoured at Old Plank Road.”

VDOT officials said updates on the closure and detours will be posted to 511Virginia as crews respond to the brush fire. Drivers in the area should use caution and expect significant delays until Route 3 reopens.
