Neighbors Just Cleaned Up 150+ Pounds of Trash in Manassas Park

MANASSAS PARK, Va. – Keep the Park Beautiful just hauled off more than 150 pounds of trash during a recent neighborhood cleanup on Connor Street—and they’re not slowing down anytime soon.

On Saturday, August 16, more than 20 volunteers—including students, retirees, local families, and even the fire department—showed up with gloves and good vibes to clear out everything from old car tires to construction debris. It took less than two hours to give the street a major facelift.

This is just the latest in a series of community-powered events from Keep the Park Beautiful. Earlier this year, volunteers tackled Polk Park and threw a festive block party at Sandstone Way Playground. Up next: a Halloween Houses O’ Lights Contest set to light up the city with spooky spirit this fall.

KPB has only been around since 2022, but they’ve quickly become a force for good across Manassas Park. Want to get involved? There’s more to come.

Here’s the full press release:

“Neighbors Unite to Keep Manassas Park Beautiful!
On Saturday, August 16, 2025, the spirit of community shone bright as more than 20 volunteers rolled up their sleeves for Keep the Park Beautiful’s (KPB) Connor Street Cleanup. In less than two hours, neighbors of all ages hauled away more than 150 pounds of litter—from car tires and construction scraps to clothing and everyday trash—transforming Connor Street into a cleaner, safer space for everyone.

This incredible team included energetic students, dedicated retirees, caring residents, and even nonresidents who came to lend a hand. They were joined by the Manassas Park Fire Department, the City Manager’s Office, and even a young local pageant winner—a true reminder that when our community comes together, amazing things happen.

And this wasn’t the first time KPB sparked community pride this year. On April 5, 2025, volunteers—including members of the Manassas Park High School National Honor Society—tackled litter at Polk Park and surrounding streets, collecting over 30 pounds of debris. Just a few weeks later, on May 17, 2025, families filled the Sandstone Way Playground for the 2nd Annual Brandy Station Block Party. Under a sunny sky, children laughed in the bouncy house, enjoyed face painting, and left with big smiles and free giveaways—all thanks to KPB’s commitment to making community fun.

And the energy doesn’t stop here! More is planned for this fall. KPB will host the Halloween Houses O’ Lights Contest, sure to bring out the creativity (and friendly competition) throughout Manassas Park’s homes, townhomes and apartments.

Founded in 2022 as an affiliate of Keep America Beautiful, KPB continues to provide education, litter prevention, and beautification programs across Manassas Park. Every cleanup, every block party, every event is proof that together we can build a stronger, brighter, and more beautiful community.
