At their most recent meeting, the Stafford County Board of Supervisors approved an agreement that would allow the Fredericksburg Regional Transit system to use the county's Emergency Radio Communications System.
According to county documents, FRED Transit will have better access to Fredericksburg and Stafford County's first responders with the bus service now on its powerhouse public safety radio network.
FRED will use the emergency radio system for the next 10 years. As part of the agreement, Fredericksburg will pay for upgrades to the emergency system. The upgrades will be purchased from telecom company Motorola will allow better accessibility for FRED buses to communicate on the emergency system.
