The effort to rename a school that has yet to open has failed, and the school board member pushing the idea dropped out of the meeting before it adjourned.
Lillie Jessie represents the Occoquan District on the Prince William County School Board and has pushed to rename the school slated to open in Fall 2021 since October of last year.
An email sent to constituents last month by her politically-active husband, Richard Jessie, states the school should not carry the Gainesville name.
