MANASSAS — Manassas could soon welcome its first rooftop restaurant.
The new eatery called Battle Street Bistro would be located at 9402 Battle Street next to BadWolf Public House and Okras.
The building in which the restaurant would occupy was built in 1950 and most recently used as a law practice.
The new owner, Sarah DeVight, of Woodbridge, plans to make changes to the building to make it look more like a restaurant.
In an application to the city’s Architectural Review Board, DeVightplans to replace a metal front door with a wooden door, and remove some of the brick on the building’s facade and replace it with more windows,
A steel railing on the top of the building to accommodate rooftop dining, making it safe for customers who choose to sit in the open-air dining area.
If approved, it would be the city’s first rooftop restaurant. The review by the city’s architectural board should be last legislative hurdle with the City of Manassas Government for business to cross before it is cleared to open.
DeVight did not return a request for comment on this story.
Battle Street continues to attract new restaurants. BadWolf Public House, a collaboration between Manassas’ own BadWolf Brewery and C.J. Finz, the seafood restaurant in the city’s downtown, collaborated on the eatery which opened last year.
