James Calvin Slaughter, age 77, of Woodbridge, VA, formerly of Midland, VA departed this life on Monday, August 28, 2017 at Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center. He was the loving father of Tami Slaughter O’Hara and Nicole Slaughter Boissière (Said). He is also survived by four brothers; Wayne, Gilbert (Ann), Harrison (Gudrun), and Edward (Wynettia), three sisters; Virginia Cox (DeLacy), Lillian Banks (Herman), and Gale Farmer (Jerome), three grandchildren; Nicholas and Taylor O’Hara and Sydney Boissière, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. James was preceded in death by his lovely wife Vera Yvonne, his parents James and Fannie Slaughter, and his siblings Madeline, Godfrey, Judson, and John. The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 7, 2017 at Greater Little Zion Baptist Church, 10185 Zion Drive, Fairfax, VA 22032. The viewing will be at 10:00 a.m. and the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at 1:30 p.m. at Pleasant Valley Memorial Park, Annandale, VA. Arrangements entrusted to Ames Funeral Home of Manassas, VA. In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial donation to the American Heart Association in memory of James C. Slaughter.
