Betty Goodwin Klingel

Betty Goodwin Klingel, 80, passed away Friday, August 18, 2017 at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC.
Betty was a native of Savannah, Georgia, growing up in the community of Montgomery. She attended Savannah High School, and served as the President of the Savannah Chapter of the National Secretaries Association before relocating to the Northern Virginia/Washington, D.C. area to start a family. She cherished her role as a mother, and relished every opportunity to share that same nurturing love with her neighborhood children as well. She enjoyed sports of all types as a participant, coach, team mom, and fan throughout her life. Her strength, determination, and loving, caring spirit were an inspiration to all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband Albert John Klingel Jr. (“Jack”); parents, Benjamin Styles Goodwin, Sr. and Margaret Hutson Goodwin; brothers, Jimmy Goodwin, John Goodwin, Ben Goodwin, and Tommy Goodwin; and sisters, Barbara Goodwin (“Punk”), and Pamela Shepard (“Ludy”).
She is survived by her two sons, Christopher Jaixen Klingel of Saratoga Springs, Utah, and Eric Hutson Klingel of Centreville, Virginia.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7pm on Saturday, August 26 at Pierce Funeral Home in Manassas, Virginia, and from 12 to 1 pm August 29 at Fox and Weeks (Hodgson) in Savannah, Georgia. Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on August 29 with Interment at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
