James Elmore Cox, age 82, passed away on August 2, 2017 at his home in Manassas, VA.
He was born on August 8, 1934 in Elk City, Kansas to the late James Raymond and Myrtle (Elmore) Cox. Mr. Cox retired from the U.S. Postal Service. He enjoyed sports and supported all the local teams, especially the Redskins. James was dedicated to his wife and family and was a voracious reader.
Survivors include his loving wife Patricia Amos Cox; daughter: Debra Cox Gibson; son: James Anthony Cox and wife Kathy Burr Cox; grandchildren: Robert James (RJ) Gibson, Brett Alexander Gibson and wife Brookelynn Marie Gibson, Kendall Lynn Cox, Delanie Maria Cox; brothers: Joe Cox and Jerry Cox and wife Joan Cox.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 10, 2017 from 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM at Pierce Funeral Home, 9609 Center Street, Manassas, VA. A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 11, 2017 at 12:00 Noon at the funeral home. Interment will be held at the Graham Cemetery in Orange, VA at 2:15 PM.
