An 18-year-old Woodbridge man is charged with impersonating a police officer.
According to police, the accused reported a shoplifter to Potomac Mills Mall security while impersonating a police officer. He was said to be wearing a radio with an earpiece, handcuffs, two replica handguns, and other items.

Impersonating a Police Officer – On May 10 at 5:20PM, officers responded to Potomac Mills Mall located at 2700 Potomac Mills Cir in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate a suspicious person. Mall Security reported to police that a man, later identified as the accused, approached them to report a possible shoplifter. The accused identified himself as a Prince William County police officer and was wearing a radio with earpiece, handcuffs, two replica handguns, and other items. Officers located the accused and detained him without further incident. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested without incident.Arrested on May 10:
