Armed Robbery | Attempted Malicious Wounding – On May 3 at 11:16AM, officers responded to an apartment located in the 1900 block of Briar Rose Ln in Dumfries (22026) to investigate an assault. The victim, a 43 year old woman of Dumfries, reported to police that she and the accused, an acquaintance, were involved in a verbal altercation which escalated. During the encounter, the accused displayed a knife and attempted to stab the victim. At some point, the accused grabbed a cell phone from the victim and threw it against a wall damaging it. When the victim attempted to walk away, the accused put the knife away then grabbed a glass bottle and attempted to strike the victim. The accused eventually left the area and the victim contacted police. Minor injuries were reported. Joe Devaney passed away March 22, 2005 and a few years ago, Bill O’Hop passed away barely a week after playing in this tournament in 2015. Both Joe and Bill were each other’s best friends and they both loved golf!
